BackupCheck Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 21, 2026

atelier-flare ("we") respects your privacy in your use of the iOS app BackupCheck ("the App") and handles information in accordance with the following policy. The App never sends your data to any server, including ours.

1. Photo Library Access

2. Information Stored on Your External Storage

The storage you choose (a USB-C drive, or a NAS on the same network) will hold the following:

All of this lives on storage that you control; we have no access to it. Keep this in mind if you share the storage with other people.

3. USB Storage Access

For USB-C storage, the App accesses only the folder you select through the iOS file picker (Document Picker). Access to that folder is saved on your device as a security-scoped bookmark so the same folder can be used next time.

4. Local Network and NAS Credentials

To back up to a NAS (SMB share), the App uses local network access and Bonjour to discover SMB servers. Communication happens only between your iPhone and the NAS you specify; no server on the internet is involved.

Your NAS user name and password are stored only in the iPhone Keychain. They are not synced to iCloud Keychain and never leave the device.

5. Information Stored on Your Device

These are stored only in the App's own area on your iPhone.

6. Integration with Our Companion App RollCheck

If RollCheck, another app by the same developer, is installed, the App writes a list of identifiers showing which photos have been backed up to which storage into a shared area on the device (App Group) that only these two apps can read. No photo content or metadata is shared. This integration is entirely on-device and does not use the network.

7. Notifications

Backup completion notices and reminders when you have not run a backup for a while are local notifications generated on the device. No push notification server is used.

8. Tracking, Advertising, and Analytics

The App contains no analytics, advertising, or user-tracking mechanisms of any kind. It does not collect personal information or provide it to third parties.

9. Data Deletion

Uninstalling the App deletes the backup records, settings, and diagnostic logs stored on your device. NAS credentials are removed from the Keychain when you remove that storage inside the App (they are kept while another registration refers to the same share). Because Keychain items may remain after uninstalling alone, remove the NAS registration first when you are done using it. Files already copied to external storage must be deleted by you.
